Geoff - you tweeted we all must do our part in holding those responsible for abuse accountable. But at the time of writing - and I truly hope this is out of date information when you’re reading this - Rob Kostich, president of Activistion, is still on TGA’s Advisory Board, as is Yves Guillemot of Ubisoft and Marc Merrill of Riot Games two other major companies with problematic workplace cultures. Acti/Blizz games are not included in the show (despite being nominated). If we keep accepting the bare minimum, change will not happen. Directly speaking out on a major platform and taking the appropriate action to hold those accountable carries the necessary weight. Typing a thread with carefully chosen words is easy. I’m writing this the Saturday night prior to The Game Awards, hot off the presses of TGA’ lack of a stance and Geoff Keighly’s threaded non-answer in response to the heat. That entire mega-corporation needs abundant restructuring including Kotick dismissal from the industry. Bobby Kotick, the leadership team at Acti/Blizz, the board, and the horridly accepted workplace culture represents everything foul about this industry we adore so much. In case you missed it, let me be crystal clear here. We’ve been vocal with our stance and thoughts on Activision/Blizzard. Quite the busy month, huh? Don’t say I didn’t warn you.īefore I close things out, I wanted to share a brief note regarding the dark stain that will be left on this year when we think of games.
